The implications of reduced hearing on learning and cognition have relevance for psychologists in a variety of settings, even those who see an 'occasional kiddo' who uses hearing aids or cochlear implants in their practice. Central Auditory Processing Disorder will be briefly addressed.

Referentin:
Amy Szarkowski, PhD, is a psychologist who specializes in working with children who are deaf and children with complex communication needs, and their families. Dr. Szarkowski is Director of The Institute and Director of The Clinic at the Children's Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf (CCCBSD), faculty in the LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities) program at Boston Children's Hospital, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She is a Core Team member for Fostering Joy, a movement that is striving to shift the conversation from remediation of challenges in raising deaf and hard of hearing children to celebrating the joys in that journey. Dr. Szarkowski also serves on the Writing Team for the Family-Centered Early Intervention (FCEI) International Consensus group, and on the Hands & Voices FL3 Center Advisory Board (Family Leadership in Language and Literacy).

Laut Begutachtung durch den BÖP wird die Veranstaltung im Ausmaß von 2 Einheiten als Fortbildung laut Psychologengesetz 2013, BGBl. I 182/2013 anerkannt.
